Metamorphosis: Pikachu to Raichu
Well hiii!
Long time no see, huh? I tend to disappear into my cave every now and then.
Where have I been and what have I been up to? It's a long story. Bear with me as I share my six-month tale.
The bird conference in Dehradun (March) made me realise that I must return to academia. Various things kept reminding me that I needed to make this happen. In April, I got involved in the IUCN CEM young professional network. The talk I gave, based on my term paper, made me feel like I've actually done some decent work and can head back to academia. From there on, I started moving towards my goal like a sloth (quite literally). But c'mon direction is important. I have begun reading research articles and attending webinars related to my area of interest. I have started working on my papers (yeah, finally!). On the work front, I worked on movies, posters, diagrams, reports and a workshop! So, all in all, I am learning to balance my 'office' work and 'other' work (a round of applause please!!).
Moving towards my goal feels nice. There have been so many changes in my perspective and the things I have wanted. I am still exploring what exactly do I want for myself? There are days I am crying a river and days when I am radiating like the sun. In all these phases, I realised that if we really want something, we make things work. No matter how hard it is, we work. Through all of this, I have regained a purpose. It feels like I lost myself for a few months and now, I am finding myself again. It's like I am metamorphosing into a better and more capable person- Pikachu to Raichu!
Soon ish, I will publish some really cool papers (if not cool, some decent papers!) for sure. I'll go to even cooler conferences!
Here ends my six-month-long tale. I hope I didn't make your eyes bleed.
See you soon with some nice blogs after a hiatus!
Signing off,
Sushi
