Story Behind The Blog And The Name
Hello! Merry Christmas people!
I hope this article finds you safe and healthy.
I am Sakshi Saini, a final year
master's student at Amity Institute of Forestry and Wildlife, Amity University,
Uttar Pradesh, India. My primary interest include urban ecology and birds.
Apart from that, I am also interested in insects. In fact, it is these insects
which got me in the field of wildlife but that's an entire different story
which I will tell you later.
So, you might be wondering why I
started this blog at the first place and why should should we go through her
blogs when there are so many other interesting blogs on wildlife?
I started this blog to improve
my writing style to be honest. Secondly, this blog will give me necessary
motivation and space to step out of my comfort zone. I have never written my
opinion and comments about different research papers and events related to
wildlife. I'll do that here.
This blog is not just for
researchers but also for other people interested in wildlife. I'll post some of
my field experiences, some artworks, comments on research papers, basic
information on different behaviours of animals. So, it will be a fun journey
for both you and me where we both will learn something new with each post.
Now next question is this
unique name of blog right? Why this name?
"Feuillemorte" is a
French word which means an autumn leaf. It is a brownish orange colour that is deeper than gold pheasant (Merriam-Webster). You have seen an
autumn leaf, right? It looks soo beautiful and fascinating.
Autumn leaves signify change
and impermanence of life. It suggests that everyday is unique and comes with
its own mysteries. Each leaf has its own story. Similarly each biological
phenomenon is mysterious and interesting in its own ways. It also implies that
science is constantly changing and evolving. The theory which is accepted by
most researchers today can be rejected by them in coming years.
The name
"Feuillemorte" signifies that me and my blog are constantly growing,
adapting and evolving. Your comments and suggestions are most welcome.
I hope you enjoy your stay at
my blog.
With this, I sign off!
~Sakshi
